Pirates dominate Atlanta track meet

Pittsburg High School boys and girls won the varsity championships at the District 16-3A cross country meet in Atlanta Oct. 31.
The Pirates scored 26 points to top Atlanta's varsity boys (43), and New Boston (51) was third.
The Lady Pirates took 29 points; Liberty-Eylau was runner-up with 32 points.
Pittsburg also won the junior varsity girls title with 20 points.
Top boy varsity runner, for Pittsburg was Anibal Perez, who took first place with a time of 17:17. Eudorao Ornelas came in fourth with a time of 18:44. Fifth place went to Chris Diaz with a time of 18:56. Edgar Villegas came in seventh in 19:10, and Egar Rios placed 13th with a time of 19:51.
The top girl varsity runner for Pittsburg was Deisi Mejia, who came in third with a time of 14:03. Fourth went to Kelsey Roberts, with 14:10. Taking fifth place was Rachel Green, with 14:17; Miranda Miner, placed seventh with 14:28; and taking 10th place was Arianna Rios, with a time of 15:06.
